An indomitable spirite can create an ebullient future

Long time age in ancient China, there was an old man named Yu Gong ( Yu means stupid, Gong means old man). There were two mountains at front of Yu Gong’s house. Every day, Yu Gong went to market to buy food, he got trouble that he had to go over these two mountains. One day, Yu Gong decided to move away these two mountains by his own hand. There was another old man called Zhing Sou( Zhing means smart, Sou means old man) heard about Yu Gong will move away two mountains, he laughed at Yu Gong and told Yu Gong that was impossible to move two mountains away. Yu Gong said:“ I may be impossible even until I die, but my offspring will keep doing this until these two mountains were moved away.” The people who were troubled by these two mountains heard this, they were touched by Yu Gong’s sprite and joined in Yu Gong’s group to move away the mountains. Day by day, year by year, people never stopped moving away the mountains. It scared the God of Mountain, he was afraid people can move away the mountains. He told the news to Shang Di (the highest God in ancient China’s myth). Shang Di also was touched by Yu Gong’s spirit. Then Shang Di ordered the God of Mountain to move away the mountains for these people.

This story sounds stupid a little bit, however it show Chinese people’s yearning for a indomitable spirit. Yu Gong likes his name means stupid old man. Moving two mountains away sounds impossible to realize, but finally he did it. There is an opposite person, Zhing Sou. According to his name, we know he is a smart old man. Regarding to his intelligence, he believed that is impossible to move mountain away. So he does not even try to do that before he relinquishes.

There is a similar story in Greece, but a opposite result. 300 Spartan soldiers were volunteers to resist Posise’s army in Wen Quan Stronghold. Posise had more than one hundred thousand soldiers. Every one knew, that was a impossible mission. However these 3 hundred Spartan soldiers just went to that battle field without any doubt. As we know from history, eventually all of these soldiers were died. Were these Spartan stupid? Of course not. They got a faith, an obligation to uphold them to fight, even they knew that was a impossible mission.

According to Chinese myth and the real Greek history, both of them show human’s indomitable spirite. This spirite encourage people to do the mission that is hard or even impossible to complete. Because human has this brilliant spirite, I believe that we can create an ebullient future.
